I’m Sam the owner of The Gooseberry Bush, I have opened the shop because upon becoming pregnant for the third time in early 2007 I realised how difficult it was to buy stylish yet affordable maternity wear. At the time due to my job I needed smart office work wear but didn’t want to spend a fortune.

I also wanted to still be able to follow the latest fashion whilst my waist line was ever expanding! So to save others like myself from forever bursting buttons and uncomfortable waistbands, and the inevitable joggers worn at home, The Gooseberry Bush was born.

At this time too I was scouring the net for a birth pool for my home water birth, and found there weren’t any shops in the east midlands where I could simply buy one from.  With this in mind I then found there were lots of other items I required that again could only be purchased via the net.

We are a unique independent specialist company, producing a range of modern maternity wear for the more discerning expectant and nursing mother.
